DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, March 14th at 12 PM outside the Broome County Jail (155 Lt VanWinkle Dr\, Binghamton\, NY) for an ICE Out of Broome County protest. Together\, we will stand up and call out Sheriff Akshar’s cooperation with ICE and demand policies that protect our communities. \nAcross Broome County and New York State\, people are organizing to push back against programs that allow local law enforcement to collaborate with ICE and tear families apart. We’re coming together to demand real change. \nOur goals include: \nEnding local participation in ICE 287(g) programs by advancing legislation that restricts local governments from collaborating with ICE. \nEnding the Jail Enforcement Model currently used at the Broome County Jail through the 287(g) program. \nPressuring Binghamton City Council to declare Binghamton a sanctuary city through a resident resolution. \nPassing the New York for All Act during this year’s state legislative session. \nPassing the Dignity Not Detention Act. \nPassing the MELT Act. \nThese policies would move New York closer to ensuring immigrant communities are treated with dignity and are protected from harmful detention and enforcement practices. \nWe hope to see you there! DESCRIPTION:  \nConcerned Residents of Greater Binghamton meets monthly on second Tuesdays. \nConcerned Residents of Greater Binghamton (CRGB) is a grassroots organization committed to protecting the rights and dignity of immigrants in our region. Through community action\, advocacy\, and education\, we work to build a more inclusive and just future. We provide legal resources\, emergency preparedness training\, and advocacy to ensure every resident feels safe and supported. \nWe are supportive of human rights for all\, such as LGBTQ+ folks\, unhoused people\, people of color\, women\, protestors\, etc. \nRecognizing that this group is largely made up of members of various groups and communities in the area\, part of our role will be to foster coordination & communication between our various organizations\, help identify assets\, and identify unmet needs.
